FAE OF THE MONTH FROM FAERY INK

Hello everyone, hope all is great.  It's Monday, which is always kind of a catch up from the weekend/get sorted for the week day.

Today is the start of our One Day Fae of the Month giveaway and this month's image is a beauty!  Her name is Bella Spring Magic and you can find out all the details on how to claim your free image at Faery Ink Facebook Group and Faery Ink Blog.

My card is called a quarter fold and I found the tutorial Here of Splitcoast Stampers.  I went with a more vintage feel for this creation, using papers from Heartfelt Creations, flower from my stash, a pearl flourish from Zva Creative and sentiment from Your Next Stamp, cut with die from my stash and decorated with enamel dots from My Mind's Eye.

Image is colored with Copics and cut out with scissors.  I added lace flowers and lace with flowers to decorate the inside of my card.

Sure hope you like my creation and hopefully it has given you some inspiration. Make sure that you visit the Faery Ink Shop to see all the wonderful images there, especially all this month's New Releases!! Also, remember you still have time to play in our monthly challenge - we are doing Pocket Letters for the month of February - you can check it out at Faery Ink Facebook Group.

STEAMPUNK COCO - FAERY INK INSPIRATION

Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying the month of February. I am here to share some Faery Ink inspiration with you today. We had 74 degree temperatures here yesterday, which is not common for this time of year, and it was awesome, I long for the summer!

Anyway, for my project this month, I chose to play with Steampunk Coco which is available in the Faery Ink Shop. I really never do Steampunk style projects, but have always loved their elegance and antique-type feel, and this image was perfect to try out some Steampunk coloring, background, etc.

Images is colored with Copics.

Hair: E29, E09, E08, YR14

Face: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R21

Eyes: E29, E09

Outfit and Hat feature E49, E47, E44, E43, E42, E41, E37, E35, E33, BV29, BV25, BV23, AND BV02, BV01, BV00 as well as Atyou Spica and Sakura glaze pens for added sparkle.

I then cut out the image with a die from my stash and daubed with distress ink. I cut cog/gear and tag out of Kaisercraft papers, sentiment is a rubber stamp. Cog/gear die is from LaLa Land. I found this amazing wooden gears heart from scrapbook.com and I used my air compressor to airbrush it using my Copic colors to match some of the colors I used on the image.

Sure hope you like my creation and hopefully it has given you some inspiration. Make sure that you visit the Faery Ink Shop to see all the wonderful images there, especially the most recent New Releases!! Also, remember to play in our monthly challenge - we are doing pocket letters this month - you can check it out at Faery Ink Facebook Group. Finally, our newest One Day Fae Giveaway starts 11pm on February 22nd, so make sure to visit Faery Ink blog to check that out!!

And also there’s a newly released Colour Therapy Club so go check it out HERE ...For only £2 a fortnight, that’s a teeny, tiny £1 a week for some fabulous newly released colouring pages.

Since I love to color images with scenery chose Eden Window this time.  She can also be found in the Eden Collection Big Kahuna Download Bundle.  All the papers, embellies and bows I used are from Work and Play 9 Love and Kisses Download Collection.  I love all the Polkadoodles download collections because each time I explore them, I find something new!  This time I found the design sheets in the Work and Play 9 Love and Kisses Download Collection - they are sheets with all the elements needed to complete a card.  I used the border from one of the design sheets as well as the cut out hearts for my card.  I additionally used one of the ribbons, which I put a wooden heart on top - wooden heart colored with my air brush using Copic marker.

I printed both the design sheets as well as the ribbons on both vellum and white paper and then layer them on the card.  Finally, I cut one of the hearts and one for the flowers out of the design papers from Work and Play 9 Love and Kisses Download Collection for additional embellies and added Stickles to the flower.

I hope you will come play along with us at Digi Choosday Challenge Blog.  Don't forget also to check out all the fabulous DT projects.

Tutorial for Heather Valentin's Coloring Without Boundaries - Fixing "Gooey" Markers

Hi everyone and Happy Thursday!! It's time for me to share my post from Heather Valentin's Coloring Without Boundaries as part of the Colorist Team.  Today I just want to demonstrate how to fix an issue that affects all of us who color with alcohol ink markers. It doesn't matter which brand you use, it is a problem that occurs with any alcohol markers, but DO NOT worry, there is an easy fix:)

For this tutorial, I am working with Abby Love Letter from Lacy Sunshine Shoppe. As you can see in the circled area of the photo below, the bangs look gooey or gloppy where the darkest color of ink, in this case Copic E18, is laid down. There are a few reasons this can happen and therefore, a few easy fixes.

Reasons are as follows:
1. Marker needs refilled
2. Marker tip/cap are dirty as in this photo

3. Too much ink has been laid down and there is build up on your paper

Fixes (corresponding to reasons above)

1. Refill your marker
2. Clean your marker and cap using alcohol, cotton round and Qtip

Here's how to do it:

Gently rub the plastic around the marker tip, be careful not to press on/squeeze the marker tip

Clean the cap with the Qtip first to get all the way down to the bottom of the cap, then finish with cotton round or paper towel

Now your marker should be all clean and no more gloppy/streaky lines.

3. If you can see too much ink built up on part of your image and you don't want to redo the whole thing, take your Colorless Blender (Copic 0) and very gently pick up some of the extra color. If you still have some glass-like streaks, try drying with an embossing gun.

See how now the top part of her hair looks nice and smooth on the paper - no streaky or gooey appearance.

Here is Abby with all her hair colored.

Sure hope this tutorial will help out with your coloring progress. Hope you will come join me next week as I will be completing this image with a tutorial on coloring floor and stone.

Many Hugs!!
Audrey

I told you last week that I love the Sticks & Bones Mammoth Dinosaur Download Bundle and so of course, I chose to use it again this week.  For today's creation, I made a set of coasters.  I chose the images Ferocious Friends/Dinosaur and Mammoth Friends/Dinosaur for 2 of the coasters.  Of course both images can be found in Sticks & Bones Mammoth Dinosaur Download Bundle.   Images are colored with Copics, Mammoth Friends/Dinosaur is cut with Crealies dies and the other image is cut with scissors.

For the other 4 coasters, I used sentiments that can be found in the Sticks & Bones Dinosaur Sentiments Bundle (and also the Sticks & Bones Mammoth Dinosaur Download Bundle).  Sentiments are cut out with Crealies and Tonic dies and daubed with Distress Inks.

I chose my flowers from Sticks & Bones Mammoth Dinosaur Download Bundle, and they can also be found in Sticks & Bones Dinosaur Flower/Foliage Bundle.  I printed the flowers out on both regular white sparkle paper as well as acetate.  I outlined the flowers on the white paper using Copics and then cut all out with scissors.

All papers can also be found in Sticks & Bones Mammoth Dinosaur Download Bundle as well as the Textured Dinosaur Papers 2 Download and Textured Dinosaur Papers 5 Download.   I sure hope you like these coasters, I know you will love this bundle!!
