Things with Wings Challenge at Digi Choosday with Polkadoodles plus tutorial

As you know, Digi Choosday Challenge Blog features a New Challenge each Tuesday and you have 2 weeks to play along, so we have our new challenge beginning today and running until May 10 and also our Tic Tac Toe Challenge which closes on May 3.   Sure hope you will come play along!

Image 1

For my creation today I chose Eden Fairy Wings which can be purchased as a single image or in the Eden Download Collection Big Kahuna Bundle.  Image is colored with Copics, I used a technique known as feathering to combine 2 colors on her wings.   I then cut out using an offset border on my Cameo.   I made a pencil holder this time around.   I chose papers and embellies from Winnie Fruit Punch Big Bundle Download to finish off my Things with Wings creation, sure hope you like it.  Hugs:)

In order to achieve the feathering or two-tone affect like the one I used for Eden's wings, you need to pick 2 colors from opposing ends of the color wheel.  For my wing coloring, I chose Mauve Pinks (RV000, RV00, RV02 and RV04) and Yellow Greens (YG00, YG01, YG03 and YG05).  The far side of each wing is where I put my darkest color, so that would be the top part of the wings, closest to Eden's body, and then the bottom part of the wing, the furthest from her body.  You then gradually layer/blend up your colors from darkest to lightest on each end and your lightest colors will cross or "feather" on top of one another in the middle.  This technique looks really cool on wings, tails, such as mermaids tails, and clothing.  I sure hope you found my tutorial helpful and hopefully I was able to teach you something new.

I hope you will come play along with us at Digi Choosday Challenge Blog.  Don't forget also to check out all the fabulous DT projects.

Acetate 3D project from THE CUTTING CAFE and Star Stampz Use a Digi Reminder

Hello everyone and Happy Thursday!   I am here today to share with you my most recent project using items from The Cutting Cafe.  This time I have used Butterfly Treat Box Template - trio of butterflies.  The treat box also has the option of a single butterfly.  For this week's The Cutting Cafe Blog inspiration post, we are showing off our projects made with acetate/clear card stock.  You can purchase clear card stock in either 8.5 x 11 or 12 x 12 at The Cutting Cafe Shop for Clear Stamps and Supplies.

I cut my clear card stock using my Cameo and then used clear Tacky glue to attach the base pieces together.  I then cut out the second layer of butterflies from clear card stock and embossed them with some embossing folders from my stash.  I added Stickles and Liquid Pearl to the embossed butterflies.  Finally, I attached my image, which is a digi from Star Stampz Etsy Shop.  The current challenge at Star Stampz is Use a Digi and you have until April 27 to come play along.

Sure hope you like my project and don't forget to visit The Cutting Cafe Digital ShopThe Cutting Cafe Blog and The Cutting Cafe Shop for Clear Stamps and Supplies.  Also, hope you will check us out of Facebook at The Cutting Cafe - Be Inspired fan group.  Hugs:)

I chose the column on the far right using Sentiment, Lace, Flower from tic tac toe board to add to my project.  I chose all my elements from Winnie Fruit Punch Big Bundle Download - my image, paper, embellies, frame and sentiment.

For this card, I used 2 of the embellies from Winnie Fruit Punch Big Bundle Download and merged them together in GIMP to make one image, then I duplicated the image and flipped it so each new image was back to back.  Next I added A Gift Digital Stamp, which can be purchased on it's own or as part of Winnie Fruit Punch Big Bundle Download.

Then, I opened the image using my Silhouette software and made it larger, then traced it and cut it out with my Cameo after printing it first.  I used one of the design papers from Winnie Fruit Punch Big Bundle Download for the inside of my card, plus added a sentiment that I combined with a frame in GIMP and then cut with my Cameo.  Image is colored with Copics and I added embellies that I cut out of some of the design sheets from Winnie Fruit Punch Big Bundle Download.   I also added some lace.  Sure hope you like it!

April Showers Fable from Faery Ink

Hello everyone and Happy April! I'm here to share some Faery Ink  inspiration with you today. I am sure hoping April showers will bring May flowers, or at least that the showers will end soon. I feel like it's rained daily here since the beginning of this month. I am not a fan of rain, it makes me very sleepy. Anyway, I know you will join me this month in LOVING the fabulous images Amanda has created for us all.

For this month's inspiration project, I chose to play with April Showers Fable Digi Stamp which is available in the Faery Ink Shop. I really love this image, adored coloring it, especially being able to have fun with the way I did the raindrops and the background.

This is the inside of my card - I love this sentiment, it goes so perfectly with the image, don't you think?

Images is colored with Copics.
Hair: E59, E08, E19, YR21

Face: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R21

Lips: R24, R22

I colored all her clothes and umbrella with various combinations of the following E39, E37, E35, E33, E31, E30, RV99, RV69, RV66, R39, R37

I used several different cool greys for the sidewalk - C7, C5, C3. Raindrops done with B45 and B41 and then blended out with my water brush filled with Copic blending solution. Then I added Stickles to make them sparkly. I love the way they turned out:) I used B01, B00 and B000 for the sky and again used my water brush with the blending solution. Finally I added in the rainbow using really subtle shades of each color of the rainbow R01, YR00, Y00, G00, B00, BV00, V000. I have never been bold enough to add anything like this before, but I am becoming more confident in my coloring and attempting to try new things and I am really pleased with the results.

Sure hope you like my creation and hopefully it has given you some inspiration. Make sure that you visit the Faery Ink Shop to see all the wonderful images there, especially the most recent New Releases!! Also, come play along in our monthly challenge - to use flowers - and also don't forget about the special $1 offer on Kitty Fae and special challenge using Kitty Fae - you can check it all out at Faery Ink Facebook Group . Finally, our newest One Day Fae Giveaway starts 11pm on March 18, so make sure to come back to the Faery Ink blog to check that out!!
