LOTS OF LAYERS AT WHOOPSI DAISY!

Hello everyone!  I have been away from the computer for a few days.  Was at my boys’ 3 v 3 soccer tournament over the weekend and we stayed at a hotel with VERY slow internet connection.  Yesterday was busy running around trying to do everything I didn’t do over the weekend plus the normal weekday activities – 13 yr. old’s eye appt., grocery and boys’ soccer camp.    I think the rest of this week will be less busy, but who knows – something often comes up.  Anyway, I have a number of updates today – hopefully will get them all posted as I try to balance my typing while watching girl’s gymnastics on tv.

For my creation, I have used an image from WHOOPSI DAISY SHOP Sheet 363.  I have colored her with Copics and cut with Lifestyle Crafts die as is backing, cut SU paper.  Sentiment from My Craft Spot and cut with Verve dies.  Bling and pearls from Prima.   Mesh lace is from my stash, flower from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Papers are EK Success, SU,  Bazzill and Bazzill DP.  Embossing done with Cuttlebug folder.  Hope you like it and will join the challenge

While the Opening Ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics don’t begin until tomorrow, July 27, there were actually 2 sports that began yesterday – 1 was soccer and I don’t know the other because our Sports page in the local paper only mentioned the soccer!  In keeping with the Olympics theme, I decided to use DIGITAL DELIGHTS SHOP image “Olympic Teddy” and 1 of the 2 sentiments that comes with this set.  I have colored Teddy with Copics and cut using MFT die.  Backing on image cut with Lifestyle Crafts die as is backing on sentiment.  Sentiment colored with Atyou Spicas and cut with MFT die.  Buttons and ribbon are from Taylored Expressions.  Papers from SU, bottom piece embossed with Cuttlebug folder that I thought resembled the Olympic rings.  Top piece is corrugated plastic from Marco’s Papers.  Sure hope you like it!!

IT’S CHRISTMAS IN JULY AT PIXIE DUST STUDIO!!

I must confess that with 90+ degree weather for a good part of the summer and definitely the past few weeks, I am not exactly in the Christmas spirit.   However, a lot of challenges this time of year are “Christmas in July” themed and our PIXIE DUST STUDIO BLOG has that theme this week.  So, I decided to go with a slightly non-traditional Christmas creation while still capturing the spirit of the season.  I chose purples and greys for my PIXIE DUST STUDIO SHOP image and used some purple core-dinations paper for the 2nd later and the backing on my image.  I used a Marianne Designs die for the purple and a Verve stamps die for my PIXIE DUST STUDIO SHOP image “I am Gentry.”  Image colored with Copics, Fiskars gel pens and Sakura pen.  I added papers from SU (greens) and DP from American Crafts and Imaginiece (sp?), dots added around edge with Sakura pen, sentiment and die from Memory Box, glitter brads and snowflakes from my stash.  I sure hope you like it!

NEW CHALLENGE LITTLE MISS MUFFET STAMPS

Wow, tons of thoughts and ideas racing through my head right now, not sure if it’s because I’m tired and feeling a second wind or if I am so tired I’m delirious!  LOL  Seriously though, after spending the past few days on Facebook and just catching up on blogs I follow, I just have to say 2 things.  1.  There are so many FABULOUSLY TALENTED crafters out there, I am consistently amazed by your brilliant creations!  2.  I am so thankful to all the DTs that I am a part of – I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by so many wonderful people and I feel privileged to work with some amazing illustrators and designers.

For today’s challenge, I’ve made a set of birthday cards using Birthday Bunny, Summer Monkey and Monster Balloons – all part of the NEW RUBBER RELEASES from last week.  I love this set of images!!

All LITTLE MISS MUFFET STAMPS images are colored with Copics, the Monkey has Sakura gel pen added to his cheeks and I used Sakura glaze pen on the monster’s horns.  All cards feature Prima DP, sentiment from A. Jillian Designs (#2 added on bunny card is from CTMH), SU, Bazzill and Core-dinations papers.

The Birthday Bunny card features die cuts from Memory Box (image), MFT (scalloped border), Cheery Lynn Designs (scalloped square), Nesties (rectangle) and sentiment cut with Marianne Design die.  Pearls are Prima and ribbon from my stash.

NEW RUBBER STAMPS RELEASES AT LITTLE MISS MUFFET!

Happy Thursday again here on my blog!  Today I want to share one of the NEW Rubber Stamp RELEASES at LITTLE MISS MUFFET STAMPS.  Please note that as the new rubber set is released, the digi set will be retired.

I hope you will come visit the LITTLE MISS MUFFET BLOG so you can see all the amazing creations the DT made with the New rubber stamp releases!  I have used LITTLE MISS MUFFET STAMPS image “School Turtle.”  I just love this little turtle.  I thought it would make the perfect teacher gift, so I have mounted the image on SU paper cut with Nestie, as is image, and have put it on the front of a glass jar decorated with K and Co. paper.  I tied Offray ribbon around the lid and used Nestie and MFT dies on SU paper to decorate lid.  I added a sentiment from Cornish Heritage Farms, and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I sure hope you like it and will check out the rest of the DT projects.

FUN WITH INKY IMPRESSIONS IMAGE:)

Happy Sunday to everyone!  I have done very little crafting this weekend, or blogging, or commenting because I had a busy weekend working on my craft room.  On Thursday night while the boys were at soccer, I decided to start going through and re-organizing my rubber/clear stamps.  That didn’t take super long, except then I got the wild idea to completely sort through EVERY box of embellies, papers and tools that I have for stamping.  3 and 1/2 days later and I am still not finished, although it is going to be sweet when I am done – I have gotten rid of ton of stuff that I haven’t used in forever and re-organized everything that I do have so that I can now find the perfect stamp to or a specific holiday paper I may need.  Can’t wait to actually be able to see the floor of my craft room again – hopefully tomorrow!

Anyhow, I have also been doing a lot of studying of some amazing artists and bloggers and reading tons about how they use their Copics, different techniques and combos and have been spending time practicing some of these techniques and styles.  My first creation I want to share where I have used a few different ideas I have found online is with this awesome digi image from INKY IMPRESSIONS “Fairy sitting on Clothespin.”  I have colored her with Copics and added Sakura glitter pen to her wings.  I have made more drastic differentiation in light and dark within Copic color families to show dimension and shadow.  I also really worked hard to show color and pattern differences in the leaves, clothespin and tree branches.  I added DP from Basic Grey, paper from SU and core-dinations, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and sentiment from My Craft Spot.  Image and backing behind it are cut with  - KINesties and sentiment cut with Amuse die.  I added stitching around the image with my Staedler pen.  (Yes, I need to get better with the faux stitching!)  I sure hope you like it.

NEW CHALLENGE AT PIXIE DUST STUDIO–RAIN OR SHINE, I GOTTA DESIGN!

Well, what do you know – another post from me today – wow, perhaps a record - at least for the past several months.  You know how in everything in life, you kind of go through hills and valleys and I am finally back on a road where I am happy and inspired to be doing lots of creating again – yay!

We have a NEW CHALLENGE at PIXIE DUST STUDIO BLOG, and it is “RAIN OR SHINE, I GOTTA DESIGN!” or simply stated, a weather related challenge which lasts until 6pm CST on Wednesday, July 18.   You are not required to use an image from PIXIE DUST STUDIO SHOP, but we’d sure love to see one if you have it!

I know I should be asleep as I am writing this and I am really hoping that it goes “LIVE” at the correct set time.

I have made my CIRCLES card today featuring LITTLE MISS MUFFET STAMPS image “Peggy-Sue Hatter.”  This is my favorite image from LITTLE MISS MUFFET STAMPS because I think it could be me with the curly hair and I used to wear hats a lot!!   I have colored this fab image with Copics and cut her out with scissors (seem to be doing a lot of fussy cutting these days!)   I have added papers from Bo Bunny and Kaisercraft as well as Core-dinations DP and Vellum that I embossed with a Cuttlebug circles folder.  Circle shapes cut with Lifestyle Crafts dies and sentiment from A Gillian Vance Designs is cut out with Nestie.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid and sparkly lace is from my stash.  Hope you like it!

My image today comes from WHOOPSI DAISY SHOP Sheet 355   I have colored this cutie with Copics, added Sakura glitter pen to her wings and cut out using scissors.  I have used papers from Bazzill, die cuts from Nesties and Marianne Designs dies for the flowers and leaves, buttons from American Crafts and ribbon from DeNami Design.  DP is from Three Bugs in a Rug, I used a punch from Fiskars for the scallops and sentiment is from Hero Arts.  Embossing done with Sizzix folder.   Hope you like it and will come play along!!  Sketch is from Willow Sketchie.

SPA CHALLENGE AT PIXIE DUST STUDIO!

Hello everyone!  Do you ever have a product you use all the time and then you kind of “forget” about it only to re-discover it and start using it all the time again?!?  Well, for me, that is my Judi Kins glaze.  I haven’t used it in forever, but I always love the way it makes stuff shiny and raised, so I have used it on a couple of creations today.  I am going to share one now and the other one I will post tomorrow.

My first card features Spa PIXIE from PIXIE DUST STUDIO SHOP and it is a FREEBIE for our current challenge at PIXIE DUST STUDIO BLOG, so head on over, pick her up and create something FABULOUS for our SPA CHALLENGE, which lasts until 6pm CST on Wednesday, July 11.  Our SPA CHALLENGE, as mentioned in a previous post, is a color challenge using our FREEBIE and I sure hope you come play along!!

I have colored my PIXIE DUST STUDIO SHOP image with Copics and Sakura gel pen then added my Judi Kins glaze to the bubbles.  I LOVE how that turned out!  I cut the image with Nellie’s die, papers are Bazzill CS, Bo Bunny and 3 Bugs in a Rug DP.  Pearls and bling are from Prima, ribbon is Offray and embossing folder used is from Lifestyle Crafts as is die I have used to cut sentiment from MFT.   Hope you like it!

PIXIE DUST STUDIO–SPA CHALLENGE REMINDER

What I would like to share with you all today is not my SPA creation (although that is coming soon), but a little gift box I made which can be equated with a spa experience.

 

I have created this little goodie box using a cardboard jewelry box that I have had forever – don’t even remember where I got it – and added some lotions to it that I put labels on using Nesties and MFT stamps.   The top sentiment is also from MFT and cut with Nesties as is PIXIE DUST STUDIO SHOP image “Lil’ Mermaid,” which can be purchased as part of the “Ahoy” set or separately.  Paper is from Best Creations and affixed using Xyron backing, ribbon from Offray.  Sure hope you like it and will come play with our challenge!!

For today’s project, I decided to go outside my comfort zone once again and create an altered project, so I made a clipboard for a teacher.  I used a clipboard from The Angel Co. and I added digi paper from DIGITAL DELIGHTS SHOP from the school digi papers set.  I used the image “Bookyworm,” which I colored with Copics, cut using Nesties and daubed with Memento ink.  Wording, from School Accessories kit is colored with Copics as well, cut with Nesties and daubed with Memento ink.  I sure hope you like it and will check out all the NEW RELEASES!

I’M MONDAY HOSTESS AT DIGITAL DELIGHTS

Well, at present time, I am about to quit using Google Chrome, which keeps crashing on me and is really getting on my nerves!  Would love to restart my computer about now, but am in the middle of too many things.  But enough of that…

I am Monday Hostess this week at DIGITAL DELIGHTS BLOG and I wanted to share a little bit about DIGITAL DELIGHTS and what I do as a DT member, etc.   I always enjoy being able to chat with you about DIGITAL DELIGHTS - one of my favorite blogs and shops!!  I have been on the DIGITAL DELIGHTS DT coming up on 2 years and I still haven't even scratched the surface of all the fabulous products and images Wendy has to offer at DIGITAL DELIGHTS SHOP.  There's always fun, new images, cut files, backgrounds, sentiments, etc. to try, so there is always something to look forward to while being part of DIGITAL DELIGHTS DT.    Also, we have a great group of ladies and I love being able to get to know them better.  I am also lucky enough to be part of the Senior DT, I do the BARGAIN FRIDAY posts and keep up with posting new events on our group pages at Papercraft Planet and The Crafter's Cafe.
One of my very favorite aspects of DIGITAL DELIGHTS SHOP images is that they come in JPG and PNG form and the PNG form can be easily combined using GIMP photo editing to nicely overlay the images.  Also, DIGITAL DELIGHTS SHOP has an awesome eBook which you can buy that tells you how to use all the many wonderful features GIMP has to offer (there's also an eBook available for those who use Adobe). 

So, for my project that I am sharing today, I took 2 images from the newest release at DIGITAL DELIGHTS SHOP - Hula Halina and thecoconut tree from the Luau accessories set and combined them into one scene using GIMP.  I then colored everything with Copics and Sakura glaze pen and cut out using Nellie's Multi-frame dies.  I decided to make a little vacation memories book using Making Memories tag shaped board book.  I affixed paper from the DIGITAL DELIGHTS SHOP Luau digi paper collection using my Xyron and then put the image on top.  I then added the sentiment, from the Luau sentiments set.  Sentiment is colored with Copics, daubed with Memento ink and cut with Nellie's die as well. 
I sure hope you like this, I had a lot of fun making it:)
