Things with Wings Challenge at Digi Choosday with Polkadoodles plus tutorial

Hello and welcome back!!  It's Tuesday, which means time for a New Challenge at Digi Choosday Challenge Blog!  Make sure to check out Polkadoodles Shop - Nikky's images are such fun to color and I love how you can purchase sets that include papers, sentiments, embellies, design sheets and more - so great to be able to do one stop shopping!

As you know, Digi Choosday Challenge Blog features a New Challenge each Tuesday and you have 2 weeks to play along, so we have our new challenge beginning today and running until May 10 and also our Tic Tac Toe Challenge which closes on May 3.   Sure hope you will come play along!

Today's New Challenge is THINGS WITH WINGS.   Make sure you read the rules on the right sidebar at Digi Choosday Challenge Blog so that you can play along. Also, a new DIGI CHOOSDAY DISCOUNT is available until MIDNIGHT GMT so make sure you take advantage of that!!

You'll definitely want to check out our Newest Release:  Winnie Fruit Punch Digital Collection - don't you just love it?!?  You can pick this collection up as a Digital Download or CD at Polkadoodles Shop or by clicking on the links above.

For my creation today I chose Eden Fairy Wings which can be purchased as a single image or in the Eden Download Collection Big Kahuna Bundle.  Image is colored with Copics, I used a technique known as feathering to combine 2 colors on her wings.   I then cut out using an offset border on my Cameo.   I made a pencil holder this time around.   I chose papers and embellies from Winnie Fruit Punch Big Bundle Download to finish off my Things with Wings creation, sure hope you like it.  Hugs:)

In order to achieve the feathering or two-tone affect like the one I used for Eden's wings, you need to pick 2 colors from opposing ends of the color wheel.  For my wing coloring, I chose Mauve Pinks (RV000, RV00, RV02 and RV04) and Yellow Greens (YG00, YG01, YG03 and YG05).  The far side of each wing is where I put my darkest color, so that would be the top part of the wings, closest to Eden's body, and then the bottom part of the wing, the furthest from her body.  You then gradually layer/blend up your colors from darkest to lightest on each end and your lightest colors will cross or "feather" on top of one another in the middle.  This technique looks really cool on wings, tails, such as mermaids tails, and clothing.  I sure hope you found my tutorial helpful and hopefully I was able to teach you something new.

I hope you will come play along with us at Digi Choosday Challenge Blog.  Don't forget also to check out all the fabulous DT projects.

Additionally, there's fun to be had and much inspiration to be gained over at Digi Choosday Facebook Group and Polkadoodles Facebook Group, so hope you will join both places if you haven't already, and if you have, pop by for a visit and come share your Polkadoodles creations!

Enjoy your day!  Many hugs!!
